R.L. Stine and Marc Brown are writing another picture book together

R.L. Stine and Marc Brown are writing another picture book together

Well, it’s a wonderful kind of day!

R.L. Stine, the author of the popular Goosebumps series, and Marc Brown, the creator of Arthur, are teaming up to write their second book together.

Titled Mary McScary, the picture book tells the story of a young girl who loves scaring the people around her—everyone from her parents to a balloon. However, when her cousin Harry, who isn’t afraid of anything, comes to visit, Mary needs to figure out how to give him the scare of his life.

“I’m having so much fun working with Marc on this funny—and slightly naughty—new character,” said Stine in a joint statement. Added Brown, “Long ago I decided to only work with people who are funny, creative, just a bit wicked, and very clever. Bob Stine is all of those things.”

Stine will be writing the picture book, while Brown will be taking on the illustrating duties.

The book’s art will be utilizing a “collage technique” which Brown says, “felt like the right spirited visual look for this mischievous character.”

Stine and Brown previously collaborated on their first picture book, The Little Shop of Monsters.

Mary McScary is set to be released in September 2017.
