Kurt Vonnegut named Bob Dylan 'worst poet alive'

Kurt Vonnegut named Bob Dylan 'worst poet alive'

Kurt Vonnegut did not care for Bob Dylan.

According to Page Six, the acclaimed Slaughterhouse-Five author dissed the acclaimed singer and recent Nobel Prize recipient in a 1991 interview with Hustler. Vonnegut called him “the worst poet alive,” and said, “He can maybe get one good line in a song, and the rest is just gibberish.” The interview will reportedly be reprinted in the December issue of Hustler.

Bob Dylan has caused a stir after he recently won the Nobel Prize in Literature, with the Swedish Academy lauding him as a “great poet.” Some authors in the literary community were not pleased that the award went to a musician rather than to a more traditional writer.

Dylan has yet to publicly comment on the prize, and according to the Academy, he wont he respond to their emails.
