J.K. Rowling: 'Harambe is not a Patronus'

Pottermore's new feature does not include the late gorilla

Pottermore’s new Patronus feature, launched Thursday morning, allows users to answer a few questions and figure out which animal they would conjure to fight dementors in the Harry Potter universe.

The results are remarkably specific; users don’t just get “snake” or “dog,” they’re given “Black Mamba” or “Basset Hound.” They’re not so specific as to refer to individual animals, however, not even the internet’s favorite gorilla.

After one Twitter user inevitably posted a meme of the slain gorilla Harambe edited on to their Patronus result page, J.K. Rowling retweeted it. She then had to clarify that no, this isn’t real, she was just endorsing a funny meme.

So to sum up, you can get a hippogriff for your Patronus, but not Harambe.

I’ve been asked to make it clear that Harambe is not a Patronus you can actually get on @pottermore. The previous RT is a joke. As you were.

I thought it was very funny, btw.
